Sun Series is a visual exploration of light, memory, and emotional transformation. Using the sun as both a physical presence and a symbolic image, the series looks at how light can shape the way we experience time, space, and memory.

The idea for this series began during a conversation with my father. I asked him what life was really like, and he told me, “Life is like sunrise and sunset.” He pointed at me and said that I was the sunrise, then pointed at himself and said that he was the sunset. That simple conversation stayed with me. The image of sunrise and sunset became a way for me to think about youth and aging, beginnings and endings, and the distance between two generations.

Later, the series went through a major shift after an argument with my mother. She told me that painting would lead nowhere and that I would never be able to make a living from it. At that moment, the meaning of the sun changed for me. Instead of wanting to preserve the sunrise and sunset, I wanted to destroy them. The destruction became a response to frustration, doubt, and the pressure surrounding my decision to continue making art.

From that point on, the sun was no longer only an image of warmth or the passage of time. It became something unstable—something that could be broken, erased, or transformed. Through changes in color, texture, composition, and light, the series explores the tension between hope and disappointment, creation and destruction, and the desire to hold onto something while also wanting to tear it apart.

The series is ultimately about moments that are temporary but deeply felt: light disappearing, memories fading, relationships changing, and the way our understanding of life can shift through a single conversation.
